Her time on NBC’s The Voice may be in the past, but Cassadee Pope still feels the love from her former coach, Blake Shelton.

Pope, who won Season three of the hit reality competition show, has gone on to create her own success outside of the series. She’s close to landing her first No. 1 song on country radio with “Think of You,” a duet she did with fellow country singer Chris Young. With that single, Pope even earned herself a spot as an opening act on Young’s I’m Coming Over Tour.

According to Pope, Shelton has continually made contact with her about all of the great goals she’s accomplished in the past three and a half years since winning The Voice.

“Blake’s always been so supportive, and proud it seems, and we’ve spoken about the single and I think he’s just happy for anybody who comes from that show to really make it, ‘cause it is a hard business, let alone coming from a show like ‘The Voice,’ she said recently.

Also understanding that it’s not always easy to come off a popular television show and make yourself into a household name, Pope is grateful for all of the experiences she’s had in the country music industry so far.

“You really have to prove yourself even further that you are an artist, you’re not a contestant that came from a show who just happened to stumble upon it,” she said.

Excited to see what lies ahead for her career’s future, she’s glad that Shelton has her back.

“It’s great to have his support and he’s just always been there for me.”
