Singer/songwriter/producer Blanco Brown is on the mend after a head-on collision landed him in the ICU. Just weeks after his record label Broken Bow Records announced that the singer was in critical condition, they have shared a new update on “The Git Up” singer.
“On August 31, BBR Music Group’s beloved Blanco Brown, the artist behind 2019’s worldwide viral smash ‘The Git Up’ and current hit ‘Just The Way’ was involved in a head-on collision near his home in Atlanta, GA. The accomplished writer, vocalist and Grammy-nominated producer suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he underwent a 12-hour surgery to address those traumas,” the statement began.
“Brown has since relocated out of the ICU, following an additional 12-hour plus surgery and is continuing his recovery in the hospital,” it continued. “His team of doctors do not anticipate Brown requiring any additional surgeries and expect him to make a full recovery. Blanco, his family and his friends wish to express that they have been humbled and deeply touched by the outpouring of love from all over the world. They would like to thank everyone for their support and ask for continued prayers for Blanco during this time.”
The record label first released a statement on September 3, just days after the accident. Details were scarce at the time, but the label home of Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Runaway June and others shared that Brown would likely need more surgeries during his journey to recovery.
“The accomplished writer, vocalist and Grammy-nominated producer suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he underwent a 12-hour surgery to address those traumas,” the first statement read. “Additional surgeries are expected as he currently rests in the ICU. Blanco, his family and his friends ask for your prayers during this time.”
Brown first went viral in 2019 with the release of “The Git Up,” a high-energy, catchy track complete with a new line dance. The craze was shared among celebrities and fans alike, most of whom posting videos for “The Git Up Challenge.” He released his debut album, Honeysuckle and Lightning Bugs, in October of the same year. He’s currently featured on Parmalee’s new single “Just the Way.”
