Hear Brandon Lay’s Rich New Single, ‘For My Money’

Following his 2019 single, “Still Rock & Roll,” rising country singer Brandon Lay kicked off the new year with a bang by dropping his latest single, “For My Money,” on Friday.

The track, co-written by Lay and Andrew DeRoberts, follows the country crooner as he pursues a woman with expensive taste by pretending to be financially well off, ultimately turning the song into an anthem for the classic “fake it ‘til you make it” mantra.

She only loves me for my money / oh, but the thing that she don’t know / I ain’t got no money / but I’d just hate to see her go,” the Jackson, Tennessee, native sings in the chorus. The track blends southern twang with elements of classic blues rock, which reflects the sounds of his hometown, which sits right between Memphis and Nashville, two of the most influential cities in music.

“For My Money” is set to hit country radio on Jan. 21, just two days before Lay hits the road with Brantley Gilbert, Dylan Scott and Chase Rice on the Fire’t Up Tour 2020.
