Canadian country hit maker Brett Kissel is resolving to make a stateside splash in the new year, announcing the January 1 release of his U.S. album debut, Now Or Never.

Co-produced by Kissel with Bart McKay and Jacob Durret, the project follows the release of the singer-songwriter’s first U.S. single — the boozy romantic, “Drink About Me” — and Kissel says it finds hime charting a new course for his sound.

“This album symbolizes where I’m at in my life right now,” he says in an official statement. “It’s time to risk it all. It’s time to raise the bar. I’m not waiting for tomorrow. … New songs and a new direction. That was the goal. Often, a ‘new direction’ means straying from the original path. Some songs we kept on the path I’ve always walked. Some songs took me in the direction of my roots. Some songs took me in a new direction into uncharted waters. This album will have something for everybody.”

Kissel launched his U.S. bid this fall with, “Drink About Me,” scoring some early attention for the tracks beachy music video starring Bachelor stars Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick. Among the eight new tracks on Now Or Never is a duet with Christina Taylor – which finds the pair reconnecting after Taylor’s “As Good As You Look” from earlier this year. Kissel’s a 14 time CCMA Award winner and the owner of two Juno trophies, but according to him, Now Or Never is just the beginning of his journey.

“People have asked, and I know they will continue to inquire about what’s different this time around,” he says. “For me, everything is. The process, the mindset, and mostly my confidence. All in all, I just wanted to destroy the box of what I thought was possible for a country record, and I am so excited for what’s to come.”
