Country crooner Brett Young adds a bit of American soul to a Euro-pop jam on “I Do,” joining Norwegian star Astrid S for a crossover standout.

Written solo by Astrid S about a real life romantic torch she kept carrying long after the relationship flamed out, the confessional new track might not share much in common with country sonically. But in terms of theme, “I Do” is about as country as it gets. That’s not accident, according to the rising talent.

“I’ve grown up with Country music – it’s a genre I admire very much and it’s been a big influence and inspiration throughout the years in my songwriting,” she said in a statement leading up to the track’s release. “I’m so happy Brett wanted to do this song with me. Hope you’ll love it as much as I do!’

“I was so honored to be asked to collaborate on this track with Astrid,” Young added. “When I first heard ‘I Do,’ I instantly connected to the lyrics and storytelling, so jumping onboard and digging into something a little bit different was a no-brainer for me. I can’t wait for the fans to hear this one.”

After two EPs and a sold out tour of the U.S. and Europe, Astrid S plans to release her debut album later this year. Young’s current single “Catch” is still grabbing fans attention at country radio, and following a headlining run of intimate shows on The Chapters Tour, he’ll hit the road with Jason Aldean’s We Back Tour this summer.
