Canaan Smith turns tears into beers in the new video for “Colder Than You,” brewing up his own brand of backwoods beer.

Directed by Kurt Ozan and filmed in the secluded wilderness of northern Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the clip finds Smith camping away a relationship that’s gone skunk. But he’s not moping around the woods for this one. Instead, the grizzled hitmaker captures heartbreak in a bottle, going step by step through the process of making his own sudsy “beer-shine.” And ultimately, washing the memory of his breakup down the creek.

“But I might’ve finally found somethin’ colder than you / Well, I’m happy as hell, and hell, it helps me raise it / Took your goodbye, and hell, it done erased it / Girl, I ain’t drownin’ your memory, these mountains / Are all that’s in here gettin’ blue / Baby, I might’ve finally found somethin’ colder than you,” goes the frosty chorus.

Written by Canaan Smith, Corey Crowder and Jared Mullins, the classically-flavored two-stepper is part of the “Love You Like That” hit maker’s career revamp, which also includes the rowdy tracks “Beer Drinkin’ Weather,” “Country Boy Things,” “Life Ain’t Fair” and “Pour Decisions.” Smith co-produced the “Colder Than You” alongside Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, after joining the duo’s Round Here Records last year.
