Carly Pearce and Lee Brice Win 2021 ACM Music Event of the Year
They scored another trophy for "I Hope You're Happy Now."
Carly Pearce and Lee Brice have won this year’s ACM Award for Music Event of the Year, taking home the pre-show victory for their duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”
Getting the news ahead of Sunday’s (April 18) broadcast of the 56th annual ACM Awards, Pearce and Brice were surprised with the trophy while posting for photographers — caught off guard and overjoyed at the same time. The traditionally-flavored breakup ballad was featured on Pearce’s self-titled second album, and she praised her collaborator for helping make the hit so special.
“SURPRISE!!!! Is this even real life?,” Carly Pearce wrote, sharing video the moment on social media. “This song continues to show me that all of my country music dreams are coming true. Thank you @acmawards @leebrice & all of YOUUU for making “I Hope You’re Happy Now” this year’s Music Event of the Year!!”
The Platinum-certified track hit Number One in 2019, and also took home this year’s CMA award for Music Event of the Year. The trophy marks Pearce’s first ACM honor and Brice’s fourth, and the pair are set to perform it on Sunday night’s broadcast, airing from Nashville on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. Other early ACM winners include Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett, who scored this year’s Male and Female New Artist of the Year honors, and Kane Brown, who takes home Video of the Year for “Worldwide Beautiful.”
