Country hit maker Carly Pearce performed her new single “Next Girl” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, delivering a stark romantic warning in pure-country style.

Making her debut on the popular daytime talk show, Pearce gave a cozy, refreshing performance of the new track, complete with good-natured advice for dealing with a no-good former flame. With Pearce singing from a soft-lit performance studio in relaxed style, she didn’t mince any words in helping look out for whoever her ex dates next, offering a twangy, up-tempo list of red flags to look for.

“I bet you probably met him at a bar / Let him walk you to your car / I bet he said he never falls this hard / Yeah, I remember that part / He knows how to say all the right things / Knows how to get you outta that dress / Knows how to make you think you’re the best thing / But I know what happens next, girl,” goes the sharp hook.

The television performance marked her debut as a solo artist, but the Kentucky native had previously been on the set of the popular daytime talk show, performing background vocals for actress/singer Lucy Hale. Pearce recalled the moment and encouraged others to never give up on their passions. “7 years ago, I sang in the background for my girl @lucyhale on @TheEllenShow. Today I was front & center. Follow your dreams, y’all. You never know what will happen.”

Meanwhile, Carly Pearce has also spent some time celebrating the good guys in her life — especially with the heartfelt track “Show Me Around,” which is a tribute to her late producer, busbee. She released the touching ballad in December, saying “There is no way to ease the pain of losing someone you love, this felt like a really hopeful way to look at our loved ones meeting us again one day and showing us around.”

Pearce’s “Next Girl” is out now and climbing the country radio charts. She scored a Platinum certified Number One with Lee Brice on her last single, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” and recently performed the national anthem at the NFL’s NFC Championship game.
