Carrie Underwood Lights Up the Night With ‘Southbound’ at CMT Music Awards

Country superstar Carrie Underwood brought a dazzling light show and a blast of summertime fun to a piece of Nashville history for the 2019 CMT Music Awards, performing her new single “Southbound” at the famous Nashville Parthenon monument.

Singing live the city’s Centennial Park — just a few blocks away from the show’s home base at Bridgestone Arena — Underwood’s glamorous performance was marked by shimmering lasers and a crowd full of fans waving rainbow colored wands. She strutted up and down the stage’s catwalk, letting loose with carefree abandon on the pop-tinged single as sparklers shot off behind her band — and looked like she was having the time of her life.

“Southbound” is Underwood’s third single from her latest album, Cry Pretty. The perennial favorite is currently out on tour with Maddie & Tae and Runaway June for her headlining Cry Pretty 360 Tour.
