Country superstar Carrie Underwood is set to release her highly anticipated Christmas album My Gift next Friday (September 25). The 11-track record will feature both originals and holiday classics, including “Little Drummer Boy” with Underwood’s five-year-old son, Isaiah Fisher.

“It was wonderful to have Isaiah be a part of what I love,” the newly-crowned ACM Entertainer of the Year shared in a press interview. She did, however, have some initial apprehension about how her little boy would react to being in a recording studio.

“You know, having that moment… I was like, ‘I don’t know how he’s going to do, I don’t know if he’s super excited to be there. If nothing else, he’ll have a fun day seeing what mommy does,” Underwood revealed. Thankfully for them both, it turned out to be sweet and memorable mother-son time.

“It was such a great moment for me as a mom to have him share something that I really love to do, and he ended up being really great in the studio… I was so proud.”

On releasing her first ever Christmas record, Underwood said that she’s “always wanted to make a Christmas album and it’s been a long time coming.”

“I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection,” Underwood said in a previous press release.

“For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”

My Gift will be available everywhere next Friday, September 25. Its lead track “Let There Be Peace,” which Underwood co-wrote with Brett James and David Garcia, is out now. Fans can also pre-order exclusive holiday merch bundles and My Gift on vinyl HERE.
