Carter Winter lets an addiction run wild in his new track, “Higher On You,” premiering the intoxicating slow jam on Sounds Like Nashville today (May 7).

Written by Winter with Sam Grow, Taylor Phillips and Colt Ford, it finds the independent newcomer chasing a romantic fix — one which he knows there’s and no coming down from, and no way to resist. Working with a vibe that feels both familiar and fresh, the Ohio native’s crunch-country sound comes across clean and concise, mixing solid country storytelling with a bit of attitude and a rich baritone vocal.

“The song to me, is about enjoying life with your favorite person,” the tattooed singer-songwriter explains. “The buzz that we are sometimes looking for through smoking and drinking pales in comparison to the feeling you get when your mind and energy are matched in your relationship.”

His vision for the track goes even deeper, though, as Winter also drew the track’s edgy artwork himself — talk about scratching an artistic itch. “Higher On You” makes its official arrival tomorrow (May 8), and there’s more on the way. Following the 2018 release of his debut album, Temptation, another studio project is in the works and expected for late 2020.
