Up-and-coming country singer Chance McKinney is gearing up to drop “Nothin’ Better To Do,” his new music of the year—and it’s a fun, summer-ready one. The uptempo song recounts a love-smitten guy sending his head-over-heels invitations to a girl. The manner he does it is clever, and in cute tongue-in-cheek fashion.

If you got nothing better, we could build a lot together / Maybe fall in love tonight under the moon / I could build you gazebo, buy our house in Puerto Rico / Maybe settle down right by an ocean view / Yeah, if you got nothing on, jump into my loving arms / Open 24/7 just for you,” McKinney sings with a wink on the chorus.

“Nothin’ Better To Do” was penned and re-imagined over the course of this coronavirus pandemic. “The coolest part, if there is a cool part, of the pandemic has led to us writing and creating from all different corners of the country as we sequester,” McKinney shared with Sounds Like Nashville. “Even though we were all in different states, my co-writers, Joe Jordan, Kevin Ray Lawson and I were able to jump online one day to work on the song.”

“We originally started with a completely different idea, but were ultimately able to revisit the track and shape the lyrics to fit the times we’re living in right now, as well as, have it stay ‘real’ when or if things ever get back to the so-called ‘normal,’” the Montana native added.

“Nothin’ Better To Do” follows McKinney’s 2019 EP, . To date, he has opened for various country superstars, including Luke Bryan, Black Shelton and Brett Eldredge.
