Country hit maker Chris Lane became a dad just a over a week ago, as he and wife Lauren welcomed son Dutton Walker Lane to the world on June 8. But he’s clearly been thinking about fatherhood for a long time.

With the newly released track, “Ain’t Even Met You Yet,” the singer-songwriter writes Dutton a musical letter about how things have changed — even before the father and son have met.

Featuring a lullaby feel with acoustic guitar and a vocal full of wonder, the lump-in-your-throat ballad is a tender tribute to becoming a parent — and how your heart seems to suddenly double in size. Lane shared the track along with a video featuring home-movie footage from throughout Lauren’s pregnancy, all the way up to Dutton’s arrival and bringing the little guy home. And the rising star says he’s already a changed man.

“Wrote Dutton a song a Couple Months ago and wanted to share it with y’all!” he wrote on social media. “Being a Dad is the Greatest thing I’ve Ever Experienced!”

“All I know is I love you / And I ain’t even met you yet,” goes the heartwarming chorus hook.

Chris Lane and his wife Lauren welcomed baby boy Dutton Walker Lane on June 8 at 11:12 a.m. He arrived weighing 9 pounds and measured 19.5 inches long — with Lane saying he’ll “never understand how Lauren birthed a 9 pound baby!”

The couple shared several photos via social media and opened up about the experience in PEOPLE. Chris Lane will kick off his Fill Them Boots headline tour on October 28.
