Chris Stapleton gives fans plenty to speculate about with a mysterious new clip on social media, apparently teasing new music coming in November.

Deleting all his previous posts and uploading a solitary 37-second video, the intriguing clip seems purposely short on info, but it does imply Stapleton’s heading in a heavier direction. The hit maker behind traditional-country inspired gems like “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Nobody to Blame” has long harbored a rock-loving side … maybe now he’ll explore it freely.

The video feels like the walk-up visual for a professional wrestler. It’s full of fire and brimstone, with crawling insects and random animal parts alongside beautiful flowers and running horses, plus tender shots of he and his wife Morgane. Meanwhile, the track playing underneath is equally intense, with pounding drums and chaotic, lightning-fast guitar strumming, and a gospel choir swelling toward an epic crescendo.

It gives no real indication of where Stapleton is going artistically, but it sure is intriguing, and it ends with one more tantalizing clue. With a fire raging behind him, Stapleton stands in silhouette and puts on his famous cowboy hat, before a black screen and the date “11.13.20” appears.

Will it be a whole new album? Maybe a quarantine-inspired EP? Or just a single? The countdown to find out starts now.
