One of the biggest shocks of the year was the announcement that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert ended their four-year marriage. In the wake of any public breakup, rumors are bound to start flying, and unfortunately a fellow country star was dragged in to the mix.

As the news of the split spread, rumors began to fly and Chris Young soon found himself in the middle of it all. He was being accused of having an affair Lambert by the tabloids.

ET spoke with Young on Tuesday (8/18) to talk about those rumors. “Man it sucks that I got put in this situation with two people who are my friends,” Chris said. “It’s just so weird getting pulled into something like that where it just wasn’t true.”

“I was in touch with Blake all day that day,” Chris added. “He was like, ‘Dude, sorry.’ I was like, ‘I know man.'”

Despite the accusations, the “I’m Comin’ Over” singer says his friendship with both Shelton and Lambert has not been tarnished. “I have not seen them, [but] I’ve definitely texted and called both of them,” Chris explained. “They’re both good since [the last] time I’ve heard from them. As good as you can be.”

“They’re both really great friends still, so it’s just one of those things,” Chris explained. “That’s kind of a byproduct of doing this and being in the spotlight I guess.”

At the time the rumors started flying, Young took to his social media to set the record straight. “I don’t normally address gossip but in this case I will. My name has been mentioned as a contributing factor in Blake and Miranda’s divorce. That is totally FALSE. They are both my friends and I would not betray that friendship. Just wanted to clear that up.”

In the meantime, Young is preparing to release his next album, I’m Comin’ Over, and heading out on the road for the I’m Comin’ Over Tour.
