Chris Young’s new album is coming soon, but he’s putting the finishing touches on it first. He says the plans for the release were shifted a bit when he decided to put out his latest single, “Drowning,” which was released this summer. Now, he’s adding a few more songs to the mix to finish the project.

“The last time I talked to somebody, they were like, ‘Didn’t you tell us it was coming out soon?’” Chris says. “I’m like, yeah, but then we did the thing with ‘Drowning’ and kind of shifted from the song I thought we were going to to this one. I’ve got something that I’ve written recently that I wanted to go back in and cut and I was like, ‘Can I go cut a couple more?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, sure, why not.’ So, we’re kind of feeling out the release process of that, but it’s awesome.”

The Tennessee native is adding some new songs to the project, but he tries to never have to remove already-recorded songs. His recording style differs from some artists in that if he records a song, it most likely will be on the record.

“I don’t really go in and cut like 40 songs and then try to pair down,” says Chris. “For some people that’s the process they like to do. I just can’t do that because then I’m like, ‘Well everybody needs to hear all of these 40 songs.’ And I already assault my friends and family with enough music as it is.”

Young recently wrapped his headlining Raised On Country World Tour, playing to more than 400,000 fans in three countries.
