Clara Henningsen Says ‘I Do’
Congratulations are in order for Clara Henningsen of The Henningsens. The lead singer of the trio wed Jacob Calaway on her family farm in Atwood, Illinois on Saturday (5/4).
“It just felt right to get married in the house that built me, the farm where I grew up,” Clara told PEOPLE of the place where her parents Debbie and Brian raised her and her nine siblings. “It is a blessed place.”
To a recording of “Beautiful You” by her father, Brian, Clara walked down the aisle to her groom, where his father performed the traditional ceremony. After, the newlyweds, their family and 300 guests feasted on a farm-style spread.
The honeymoon will have to wait awhile, however, because Clara, Brian and her brother Aaron will be hitting the road with Brad Paisley on the “Beat This Summer” tour starting May 9. They will open for Paisley in 29 cities. Despite the time apart, the couple is prepared for the distance.
“Jacob and I spent the first year and a half of our relationship long distance,” says Clara. “We would go two months without seeing each other. It wasn’t easy, but it kind of prepared us for the future. We know there will be times we won’t see each other for a while. But that’s okay. Our love is strong and we are so blessed to have found each other. I am so happy to be married!”
