Country Hall of Fame to Feature New Brooks & Dunn Exhibit
The new display opens in Nashville August 9.
Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has announced a new exhibit dedicated to the best-selling country duo of all time, revealing the details behind Brooks & Dunn: Kings of Neon.
Opening August 9 and running through July 19, 2020, the new exhibit will feature dozens of personal artifacts donated by the duo’s Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, helping tell the story of their rise to fame. Founded in the early ’90s while both artists were struggling to kickstart their solo careers, they combined honky tonk with hard-charging classic rock and electrifying showmanship, eventually becoming the gold standard for country music duos everwhere.
Visitors to the Brooks & Dunn: Kings of Neon exhibit will get an up close look at important totems from that history, including some of their many awards, special guitars and a pair of red cowboy boots worn by Dunn when he was around five years old. Other items include a set of racing suits from the duo’s time as race-car drivers in the ’90s, early drafts of song lyrics and much more.
“It’s so cool to have an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” Dunn said of the honor. “When you’re reminded that what you have created is part of history like that, it’s beyond humbling. I’m so, so proud.”
“Ronnie and I are really fired up about having an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” added Brooks. “We’ve shared some of our favorite things with the museum over the years, and it’s going to be really special for us to revisit those moments from our career, especially in a format like the Hall that reaches all generations of fans.
The duo announced a hiatus in 2010, but returned for their popular Las Vegas residency with Reba McEntire in 2014. A new album of collaborations with stars like Luke Combs, Jon Pardi and Kacey Musgraves titled Reboot came out earlier this year, and Brooks & Dunn will be officially inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October.
Meanwhile, the duo will sit down for a special conversation with longtime manager Clarence Spalding to celebrate the new exhibit, announcing August 24 as the date for Proud of the House We Built: A Conversation with Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and Clarence Spalding at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday (July 19) at 10 a.m. CT.
