Danielle Bradbery puts a rootsy, Texas tinge on Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-Award winning “Shallow” in a newly released cover.

Featuring fellow Texan singer-songwriter Parker McCollum, the acoustic duet drips with emotion and feels perfectly suited for a country approach. Surrounded by dobro and twangy guitars, Bradbery’s voice swells and rolls over the deeply romantic lyrics, while McCollum’s contribution feels both strong and tender at the same time.

“When I heard ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born for the first time, I was blown away,” Bradbery says. “The lyrics, arrangement, Gaga’s voice and the emotion … I was just speechless. Yet as a singer, I couldn’t wait to find a partner to record this song with.”

Bradbery says she was at one of McCollum’s concerts in her hometown of Houston when she decided the Probably Wrong singer was the one she was waiting for. “Shallow” is just the latest in a series of cover releases from Bradbery, following her Yours Truly: 2018 series which featured Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman,” Post Malone’s “Psycho” and Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn.” Her second album I Don’t Believe We’ve Met is out now and her current single is “Goodbye Summer” (with Thomas Rhett).
