Following the success of his last single, “Night’s on Fire,” from his album, Fighter, David Nail has released a new track, “Good at Tonight,” to Country radio.

The song, which is co-written by TJ Osborne, John Osborne, Troy Verges, and Barry Dean, also features some familiar faces from country music: the popular duo, Brothers Osborne. While Nail once thought the song was just an accidental send-off from the guys, it turned out that they were, in fact, pitching it to Nail to add it to his album and not just seeing if he liked it.

“‘Good at Tonight’ was a song that I heard the demo and I was actually kind of mad because I just assumed that they were…sending me the song because we’d been on the road with Brothers Osborne and they were just saying, ‘Hey! Here’s another Brothers Osborne song.’ When I realized that they were pitching me the song, I immediately texted John [Osborne] and was like, ‘Hey — are you sure you’re not gonna record this song, ‘cause I don’t want to…fall in love with it and then record it and then you decide six months from now that you love it and you want to record it, and then I have to take it off the record, ‘cause you win.’ And they were like, ‘Nah man. If you love it, man, do it.’ And so I said, ‘I’m gonna do it, but there’s one stipulation — you have to sing on it,’” explained Nail.

Knowing their innovative style of writing and loving the song from the start, Nail decided to make it his own with the Brothers Osborne’s blessing and turned it into a track on Fighter. The teamwork just goes to show how interconnected Music City happens to be and how much the country music industry works together as a unit.

Fans can hear Nail perform “Good at Tonight” when he hits the road on his Fighter Tour starting September 7 in Madison, Wisconsin. Tickets are available via Nail’s website now.
