Don Williams announced his retirement from performing just last year, and many country artists are already lining up to show their appreciation for the legend in music form.

Garth Fundis, long-time producer of Williams, whipped up a tribute album to his friend called Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams, with the help of a few country friends. Fundis enlisted the talents from artists such as Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Brandy Clark, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, Alison Krauss, Lady Antebellum, Pistol Annies, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Stapleton, John Prine and more to contribute their voices to the dedicated project.

Singing classic songs from the country icon, the artists will all lend their vocals to songs that fans of Williams will know and love dearly. Fundis found that the record mirrored the love he has for his iconic country music friend and wanted to give him something special for all of the accomplishments he’s earned throughout the years.

“It has been my privilege to work frequently with Don through the years, and I’m proud to honor him with this new project,” said Fundis.  “All of the artists on the album have been huge Don Williams fans for years. It makes the entire project very personal and very meaningful.”

Williams played and performed for a whopping five decades before announcing his retirement from the stage. Throughout his career, he racked in two CMA Awards, two ACM awards and 17 No. 1 hits.
