Are the Dixie Chicks Working on New Music?

Could new music from the Dixie Chicks be on the horizon? It’s certainly possible, judging by photos posted to singer Natalie Maines’ Instagram page.

Sunday night (6/24), the Texas native posted a photo, seemingly from the inside of a recording studio. Complete with a keyboard and a wine glass, Maines kept her message elusive by simply captioning the snap with a question mark. Just several hours later, she followed up the post with a photo of three pairs of feet, possibly of her bandmates, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, and herself just chilling.

While the pictures share no specific details, fans eager for new tunes commented with their wishes. “Pa-lease let it be a new album! Pretty please with a massive thank you on top,” wrote one fan in all caps, with another writing, “Omg…. I think I just died and went to heaven!!”

The elusive messages come just weeks after Maines also shared photos posing with Maguire and Robison’s instruments. Comparing the two, Maines caption the pics by saying her fiddle skills feel inadequate next to her banjo playing.

If the Chicks do release a new record, it will be their first since 2006’s Taking the Long Way. The trio recently toured the United States in 2016 and created a live album, DCX MMXVI Live, which debuted in late 2017.
