The 53rd annual CMA Awards are now only days away — but ABC and Dolly Parton can’t even wait that long to get things rolling. Hosted by Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, a new special titled Dolly Parton: Here She Comes Again! is set to air November 12 at 10 p.m. ET — one night before the Awards.
Described by the network as an hour-long special offering viewers an intimate portrait of Parton’s life and legendary career, it finds Roberts traveling through Parton’s childhood home of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee to her Dollywood Theme Park. There the pair will sit down for what Roberts calls a “personal and very fun conversation,” as the country icon opens up in ways fans haven’t seen before.
Along with Roberts’ new interview, the special will also include never-before-seen archival interviews and performance footage, plus personal stories about Parton from stars like TV and radio personality Bobby Bones, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood.
It should be a great primer for the following night’s country extravaganza, when Parton joins Underwood and Reba McEntire to co-host the 53rd annual CMA Awards. Tune in November 13 at 8 p.m. on ABC when the action gets under way, live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
