Country star Dustin Lynch revealed that he met his current girlfriend, Kelli Seymour, thanks to the power of social media in an interview with The Sam Alex Show on Nov. 25.

“We were worlds apart,” Lynch shared on the radio show. “She lives out in California, and I’m based out of Nashville, but I slid into her DMs on Instagram.”

His first message to her was just a simple “hey,” but it led to the two texting back and forth and facetiming on a frequent basis.

“It seemed like there was some good chemistry there, so I was trying to figure out when I could go out and meet her for the first time in person,” the Tennessee native explained. “My schedule wasn’t allowing me the time to do that, so I invited her to a show out in California.”

Thankfully for Lynch, she showed up, and the rest is history.

Though they still live on opposite sides of the country, the couple is still able to see each other regularly thanks to Seymour’s career as an actress and model.

“She can be fluid and travel a lot, and of course I’m always traveling, so we’re able to make it work and not be away from each other for too long of a time,” Lynch said.

The pair also had a funny moment revolving around star Nicole Kidman at the CMA Awards.

“We’re big fans of Keith and Nicole, and I was like ‘I’m going to make sure you get to meet Nicole,’ because she’s a huge fan,” the country crooner shared. “I was talking to someone else, I turn around and Nicole greeted me. I’m like ‘holy crap, this could be no easier.’”

Lynch then turned to get Kelly out of her chair to meet Kidman, but she was missing.

“It was empty because Loretta Lynn was coming in, and they needed a seat for her to have, so they grabbed Kelli and moved her out and moved everybody down,” the singer explained. “We knew it was going to happen, I just didn’t know it was going to be when I introduced Nicole to an empty chair, who now thinks I have an imaginary friend named Kelli.”

Unfortunately, the couple did not have another opportunity to meet Kidman that night.

“That was it, so we were kicking ourselves,” Lynch shared.
