Florida Georgia Line have been making country-music history right from the start of their hit-making career, breaking records and ushering in a whole new era of party-ready energy. And earlier this month, they did it again.

The dynamic duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have just become the only artists in country history to notch two Diamond-certified singles — an honor which recognizes sales of 10 million copies for a single song. FGL first did it a few years back with their breakout smash, “Cruise,” making history as the first country act to do so. And now they’ve matched their own success with “Meant to Be,” their slow-grooving hit collaboration with pop singer Bebe Rexha.

Taking part in a virtual celebration with the Recording Industry Association of America and their record label, Big Machine Label Group, Florida Georgia Line officially became the first country act in history with two Diamond singles to their credit. And to put that in context, only 43 songs have ever received that distinction.

“Thank you guys for the recognition and this ride has been a dream come true,” said Kelley as they accepted the honor. “It’s pretty crazy hearing the numbers. It’s pretty wild to think about it in that time span. Just super grateful. Thank y’all for taking the time and celebrating us, but know that celebrating us is celebrating y’all ‘cause it is all of us. I think we’ve all been doing this together and riding this wave since day one, so thank you guys.”

“It is surreal and it is nice to take a second to let that sink in, and honestly we’re so thankful,” added Hubbard. “It’s awesome to know it’s connecting. When I hear those numbers that’s what I hear, and I just think that’s something that we can all be proud of. Thank y’all for being a part of this team. We’re humbled by it, we’re really extremely motivated, we’re all in a great headspace, and we’re feeling really creative and all this does is inspire us even more. Thanks everybody on this call and thank you for taking the time to recognize that, it’s really special.”

Overall, Florida Georgia Line’s total digital single awards stand at 54 million units, and their likely not done yet. Their new holiday track, “Lit This Year,” is out now, and the single “Long Live” marks the beginning of a new album cycle. The duo recently reaffirmed their creative partnership amid rumors of a split, and will take part in this year’s CMA Country Christmas special on November 30.
