Florida Georgia Line and hip hop star Nelly reunite for a “lil” hip-hop/country crossover, dropping their “Lil Bit” single today (October 23).

With the St. Louis rapper joining his country pals for the latest installment in an ongoing friendship, this collab leans more toward Nelly’s wheelhouse than FGL’s. A classic-rap flow is mixed with self-assured singing and a straightforward theme — all about trying to impress a girl — but country influence creeps in during the song’s chorus. After Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley deliver the song’s hook with flirtatious swagger, a banjo comes in to bookend the beat.

“And she said, “Take me to the country, show me where you from” / I said, “Shawty, you gon’ love me and we gon’ have some fun” / I bring out my big wheel and you can climb on up / Girl, I think you a big deal now show your boy some love / Just a lil’ bit,” it goes.

Nelly told Billboard the track came to be during a three-week stay in Music City, and his relationship with the duo goes way beyond sporadic collaborations.

“My relationship with them is super tight,” he explains. “We’ve done two tours together, we have a bunch of other tours planned, and things that we want to do. … They’re family.”

According to Nelly’s Instagram, “Lil Bit” will appear on Nelly’s upcoming Heartland EP, and he can currently be seen on the latest season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. Nelly and FGL have previously teamed up for smash remix of “Cruise,” and the country duo say their new pairing was a “no brainer.”
