Florida Georgia Line may have ‘dug their roots’ into country, but they’re expanding their horizons in the music industry by teaming up with EDM duo The Chainsmokers.

Taking fans by surprise, The Chainsmokers recently released a preview at the tracklisting for their forthcoming album and no one expected to catch FGL upon that list. Although the country duo has spent time working with artists like Nelly and The Backstreet Boys, they can’t wait for the collaboration they’ve been anticipating to hit the fans like no other song before.

“It kind of happened last minute.  We got a call from them and they pretty much had this song and they wanted us to sing on it. And it was just a meant to be thing, it really was. It was funny, a few weeks earlier we literally were in an interview and they said, ‘Who would you like to collaborate with?’ And for the first time. BK said, ‘Well the Chainsmokers would be cool.’ And in my head I literally was thinking, ‘Wow, that’s something we’ve never talked about but that would be really cool.’ And the next thing you know, a week and a half later we’re getting a phone call. So it’s just funny how we really do feel like it’s kind of a God thing and it was definitely meant to be,” Tyler Hubbard told Sounds Like Nashville and other media recently.

Surprise surprise. New music coming soon with @thechainsmokers #LastDayAlive

While fans are anxiously awaiting a taste of this track to hit the airwaves soon, Florida Georgia Line hopes listeners take in the different sounds of their song with open hearts and find heart in the meaning of it.

“I think it’s an emotional song, maybe a little bit dark, but I think it’s a hopeful song,” revealed Brian Kelley of the duo. “I think people are going to jam their frickin’ faces off to this song.”

The Florida Georgia Line-meets- Chainsmokers collaboration is called “Last Day Alive,” and will be a part of the Chainsmokers’ new record, Memories…Do Not Open. The album is set to release on April 7.
