Gabby Barrett is no stranger to a live on-stage performance, and she definitely showed her strengths during the 56th Annual ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 18).

Effortlessly commanding the tiny stage at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe, she showed off her angelic voice with a gripping performance of “The Good Ones.” Making her vocal runs look easy and smooth all the same, the track was full of emotional depth — and featured a poise that went way beyond her “new artist” status. Backed only by her husband (and the song’s inspiration) Cade Foehner on acoustic guitar, plus a cello, Barrett not only sounded like a superstar, but looked like one, too, dressed in Western-style white satin blouse and wide-brimmed white hat.

Barrett is already a winner tonight as she received the news about taking home the trophy for this year’s ACM New Female Artist of the Year just a couple weeks ago. The American Idol alum was taken off-guard when she was nonchalantly handed a video message from Keith Urban congratulating her on the honor.

“ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!! I got this news right as I arrived in Nashville w/ my hubby and sweet Baylah! God is so good and I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this country music community,” she captioned the Instagram post about the moment.

Barrett is also up for the Single of the Year award, with her massive hit, “I Hope,” being recognized in the category.

The 2021 ACM Awards, hosted by Urban and Mickey Guyton, broadcast live on Sunday, April 18 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
