Our chat with Gabby Barrett is the last segment of a four-part Q&A series ahead of the 2020 C2C Festival. See more from our series featuring Eric Paslay (here), Abby Anderson (here) and Charles Esten (here).

American Idol alum Gabby Barrett had a breakout year in 2019 with the release of her debut single, “I Hope,” which is currently climbing the country charts. Come March, the rising star will be packing her bags for London as she is set to play the O2 Arena at the prestigious C2C: Country to Country Festival.

This will be an exciting trip for the rising star since she has never been to London before, much less traveled internationally. Sounds Like Nashville sat down with Barrett to find out what she is looking forward to in her first time overseas and her thoughts on exposing country music to an audience outside of the U.S.

Check out our Q&A with the powerhouse singer before she begins her journey overseas below.

C2C Festival begins in Amsterdam and Berlin March 7 and 8, going on to London, Dublin and Glasgow on March 13-15. For more information, visit c2c-countrytocountry.com.

SLN: In March, you’ll head to London to perform at the C2C Festival. Have you ever been to London?

GB: I have not. First time going anywhere overseas. I just got a passport, so I’m excited.

SLN: What are you most looking forward to?

GB: I don’t know, I’m expecting it to be different in a lot of ways. I don’t know exactly, but I’ve seen pictures and things that look different, and I’m like, “are you allowed to walk across the street without the light?” Like, I don’t know what all is different over there. Also food! I’m a foodie, so I’m excited to try different food. I don’t know, I’m just excited to be in a different part of the world other than the U.S. It’ll be cool.

SLN: Are there any sights that you have to see?

GB: I don’t even know if we have time to see any sights because we’re just going and going and going, but there’s many places I feel like I would want to visit and probably sightsee. I know my manager knows more than me in that area, so I would probably just trust his intake on seeing some beautiful places because I’ve heard there’s some beautiful places.

SLN: This festival has kind of grown a lot over the last few years and being a part of it makes you like an international ambassador for country music. Have you thought about that at all and what it means to bring your music to a worldwide audience?

GB: I think it’s cool. I think it’s definitely a wonderful idea to know that your music is being spread outside of the United States, and it was really cool, actually being on American Idol, that people would message me from places like the Philippines and Brazil and be watching it on YouTube and whatnot. It’s just really cool to know that you have support of fans that know your music that far away from you, so I am all for the idea of spreading music outside of the U.S. I’m excited to start in London. It should be fun!
