Taking her place as country music’s new “it-girl,” Gabby Barrett reached the top of both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country airplay charts with her debut single “I Hope.”

A career first for the American Idol alum, Barrett joins an elite class of women as the first solo female artist to take a debut single to No. 1 since 2017. Co-written by the powerhouse vocalist with Zachary Kale and Jon Nite, the scorching track is also the first debut single by a female artist to make it into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart since 2017, hitting the No. 2 spot.

“I can’t believe this is happening… this is amazing,” Barrett shared. “Thank you to country radio for being so welcoming and supportive, and to my husband, family, fans, label, team and everyone who has supported me along the way – this would not have been possible without you.”

Barrett’s feat garnered praise among names like Carly Pearce, who took to Twitter to congratulate the rising starlet.

In addition to topping the Billboard and airplay country charts, “I Hope” has spent nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Shazam Country chart, spent six weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart and hit the top of SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown as well as Radio Disney’s Country Top 50 chart.

In the lead-up to Barrett’s achievement, she dropped a remix of the smash hit with pop sensation Charlie Puth on Friday, adding a sleek, revamped production and fresh new perspective to the breakup anthem. The country songstress is set to release her log-awaited debut studio album later in 2020.
