Granger Smith has shared a soulful hip-hop remix of latest single, “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads,” teaming up with contemporary Christian rapper Lathan Warlick.

After learning of the talented remix specialist from his wife, Amber, Smith reached out to Warlick and was stunned with the early results, then decided to make their collaboration official. The new track takes the original and makes it a thoughtful, low-and-slow jam, full of razor sharp soul searching. Smith’s original was already about embracing the deeper value of a dirt road — they’re more than just muddy examples of your country cred, he sang — but Warlick gives the track even more spiritual weight.

“You never know what to expect or what’s coming next when riding them dirt roads / The gravel and dust might throw you off, if I’m ready or not only God knows/ It’s hard trynna hold it together when I lost a couple of people along the ride / Wish I could roll back the hands on a clock just to tell ’em, ‘I love you’ just one more time,” he raps over the remaster standout.

An unlikely collaboration? . A few months ago, Amber found @lathanwarlick and showed me his insta page. He was taking popular tunes, adding his own lyrics and completely rebranding the songs with his own stories of life, struggle, rebirth and testimony. I loved it instantly. . I reached out via DM and we hit it off right away. (And one day we’ll take our boys fishin) This dude, through his own path, has pulled the layers back on life and sees things in a new way…with truth, integrity and God first. I only hope that one day I can see as clearly as he does. . AND THEN…he takes my song and does THIS right back to me. An unlikely collaboration and he knocks it out of the park with a deeper vision. The vision of truth. . Now the question is…should I ask him to record this version and post it for everyone?? Lemme know!! I wanna hear y’all’s thoughts… . @lathanwarlick you down???!

Along with the remix, Smith has also begun a new livestream performance series while COVID-19 keeps concert tours shut down. His twice-weekly Live at the Yee Yee Farm: Shop Set will air on Youtube and Facebook each Monday and Thursday at 6:30 CT.

If you would have told me last year that I would be connecting with a country singer to create something so amazing I would’ve told you to get out of here lol!! When Granger Smith reached out to me on Instagram the immediate connection and love was there automatically. After a couple of text messages and getting to know each other more, out of the blue he sent me this song and asked me did I wanna be apart of it. God wouldn’t even let me fix my mouth to say no. Not even knowing that a month later we would be witnessing the riots and the movements that are going on right now as we speak.! God’s plan for the song was already in play to help bring unity and love🤜🏾🤛🏻.. I encourage you guys to click the link in my bio and checkout the new song “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads” featuring Lathan Warlick. It’s out NOW on ALL platforms..😁🔥😁!! ________________________________ (Click the link in my bio and pick what streaming site you listen to the most to take a listen) 🎶🙏🏾💪🏾
