Rising star Hailey Whitters makes the most of a life on the rocks in her new single “Fillin’ My Cup,” teaming up with Little Big Town for a twangy splash of pure-country fun.

Penned by the emerging favorite with songwriters Nicolle Galyon and Hillary Lindsey, the new track is steeped in easy-going optimism — and features an extra shot of star power. Classic-country sounds join a strutting rock beat and Whitters’ rebellious spirit, with the Iowa native saying it’s a tribute to those everyday mixers that give life its buzz, and leave you ordering up another round.

“I wrote this song with Hillary Lindsey and Nicolle Galyon. I’d had the title ‘Fillin’ My Cup’ for a while, but then Nicolle had the brilliant idea to turn the lyric into a recipe,” Whitters explains. “It’s a concoction of all of those little things in life that have a way of making my glass feel half-full. It’s been a hopeful reminder throughout the year and just felt like the right note to start 2021 on.”

Whitters teams with her old pals Little Big Town for the track, while a video directed by Harper Smith brings the intoxicating anthem to life. It stars Whitters as a runaway bride who narrowly escapes a life-changing mistake, only to meet up with her harmony-loving guests to sing of good times to come. And adding even more old-timey credence, Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor makes an early cameo as a fiddle-sawing local.

It’s not the first time Whitters has teamed up with Little Big Town — as she co-wrote the 2017 single, “Happy People,” and also joined them on tour — and now “Fillin’ My Cup (feat. Little Big Town)” marks the first taste of new music following her breakout 2020 album, The Dream. That effort put Hailey Whitters on the map for many country fans with singles like “Ten Year Town,” “Heartland” and more, and also earned the attention of critics — including a wide-ranging interview with Sounds Like Nashville.
