Rising country singer/songwriter and new mom Harper Grae has dropped a new song, “I Think About You.”

The track opens with Grae’s poignant vocals over piano keys, as she sings,”When the rain’s comin’ down And the sun’s still shinin’. When I see a silver Civic On a backroad drivin’. When the radio plays / When the stars go blue I think about you.”

The tempo gradually picks up as the singer soars on the emotional chorus, “What we had’s long gone / Yeah, I moved on / Your memory don’t do / What it used to do / I don’t want you back, No it ain’t like that.” While Grae is done being stuck in a past relationship, she doesn’t discount the life lessons it’s taught her.

“This song is special to me because I was able to write it with Ian (Christian) & Matt (Willis) – two of Nashville’s finest songwriters,” Grae tells Sounds Like Nashville.

“They encouraged me to paint vivid images around my past relationships. So when we took that to the writing room, we had this idea and we knew that everyone could relate; having experiences with their past relationships with a similar goal in mind – to take away something positive from each one.”

Releasing new music is not the only thing Grae has been celebrating. Earlier this year, on July 19, the 31-year-old and her wife, Dawn Gates, welcomed their adorable daughter, Declan Monroe Gates.

“Being a new mom is the most important thing I have ever done,” Grae reflects. “While terrifying, it is also magical. Declan Monroe is a dream, but I would not be able to be a working mom without my wife. She is the glue that holds our family together and she does it with grace.”

In case you missed it, Grae penned a very personal, moving and encouraging letter to her 18-year-old self exclusively here on SLN. Read it here.
