Hunter Hayes Drops Charismatic New Single, ‘If You Change Your Mind’

Hunter Hayes delivers a blast of classic-pop charisma on the new single “If You Change Your Mind,” holding out hope for a romantic re-do.
A sweeping orchestral pop anthem matched by heartfelt country lyrics and some sensual guitar playing, Hayes’ new track is all about the idea that good things come to those who wait. He might have messed up his last relationship, or it just didn’t last for whatever reason. But sometimes you’ve got to give things a second chance, and he’s willing to stick around until that chance comes.
“If you change your mind / You know where to find me / Patient for the right time / Waiting on a green light / If you see the signs / And you wanna hit rewind / See how much we shine / I know you swore you’d never oh / But if you change your mind,” goes the chorus.
“I wanted a song on the album that represented missing someone so much that you forget everything bad and only remember the good,” Hayes says in an official statement. “You find yourself in a dream-like state imagining what could happen if it went the way you always dreamed it would.”
Meanwhile, the track’s Great Gatsby-style music video was Directed by Bia Jurema, placing the “Wanted” hit maker in a crisp tuxedo to match the tune’s sophisticated sway. “If You Change Your Mind” is part of Hayes’ upcoming album Red Sky (Part II), and follows the lead single, “The One That Got Away.” The Louisiana native appeared on FOX’s The Masked Singer in April of 2020.
