Season three of Fox’s The Masked Singer is heating up. Heading into the semi-final round, one contestant has stood out with judges and viewers alike — The Astronaut — and rumors abound that the mysterious star is actually country singer Hunter Hayes.

According to the theory, there are plenty of clues to support Hayes as the voice behind moving renditions of Lauren Daigle’s “You Say,” Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and more.

First is the costume itself, which features a treble clef on its chest — a clear hint that the star is involved in music somehow. It’s also gold, and Hayes has earned mutiple Gold and Platinum certifications over the years. Plus there’s the simple fact that it’s an astronaut costume at all, and Hayes’ recent “Wild Blue” single features a variety of outer-space references.

Likewise, the contestant also noted that he is “far from home” while shooting the Los Angeles-based show (Hayes lives in Nashville). And just from a business perspective, appearing on the show now makes sense since the hit maker’s Wild Blue album is due later this year.

Seems like a lock to us, but what do you think? Is Hunter Hayes really The Masked Singer’s Astronaut?
