Jackson Michelson Reflects On The Magnetic Pull Of Love In New Single, ‘Stay Over’

"This ain't gonna help us get closure / We'll say the same goodbye, swearing it's the last time / But no matter how we try, baby / We can never stay over," sings Michelson.

Rising country singer Jackson Michelson has launched a brand new single, “Stay Over.” Co-written with Jeff Pardo (Ben Rector, Francesca Battistelli) and Molly Reed Grayson (Danielle Bradbery, Marie Osmond), the song follows the peels the layers of a passionate yet unsteady hot-cold relationship, while relying on a mid-tempo production to augment the emotional turmoil. The idea of this song’s narrative all stemmed from a dream.

Michelson told Sounds Like Nashville, “I woke up from a dream with the idea of the song ‘Stay Over,’ talking about a relationship that was meant to be, but the timing wasn’t right. The next morning, I went into a co-write and remembered the idea I had the night before. ‘Stay Over’ is one of those real songs that a lot of people can relate to, but people don’t talk about it much.”

“I know you’re gonna show up at my door, throw your heels on my floor / And you’ll be saying maybe you should stay over / I know we’ll be kissing at the stairs, I’ll be messing with your hair / Fall asleep with your head on my shoulder / We can’t let it go even though we now / This ain’t gonna help us get closure / We’ll say the same goodbye, swearing it’s the last time / But no matter how we try, baby / We can never stay over,” sings Michelson.

“Stay Over” follows the ongoing success of Michelson’s recent single, “One At A Time,” which has amassed a whopping 105,000 views on its video, as well as multiple adds on curated playlists. The single that launched him into the spotlight, “The Good Life,” was also a hit on Sirius XM’s The Highway.

Fans can catch the Corvallis, Oregon native playing multiple fairs both at his home state and other states across the country this summer. Dates can be found below. For more information, visit Michelson’s official website.
