Jake Owen hits cruise control on his heart for a brand new single, sharing the sunny, wind-in-your-hair jam, “Best Thing Since Backroads.”

Written by Ben Johnson, Jordan Minton, Hunter Phelps and Geoff Warburton, the open-road anthem is out now, and it takes Owen into new territory. With an easy-rolling vibe that captures the peaceful perfection of true love, the country rocker was produced by Joey Moi and finds Owen enjoying the scenic route — both in life and romance. It’s the first track released since a string of hits from the Florida-born star, and the destination is once again country fans’ hearts.

“It’s always exciting releasing new music,” Owen says in an official statement. “It feels great being back out on the road and bringing happiness to people. I always strive to record songs that make you feel good. This one is going to be a lot of fun to play.”

“Best Thing Since Backroads” follows the ninth Number One, from Jake Owen, after “Made for You” topped the country radio charts for two weeks in May. But maybe more importantly, the song also marks the start of new album cycle.

Owen’s last studio set was something of a return to chart-topping form, with Greetings From … Jake also including two more Number Ones — “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” and “Homemade” — plus the good-timing Platinum hit, “Down to the Honkytonk.” Meanwhile, Owen recently made his headlining debut at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, selling out the famous venue for his Jake Owen & Friends: A Concert Made for You benefit show.
