Jake Owen’s ‘Real Life’ Marriage Struggles
Jake Owen’s career is on fire. He has a hot new single, a summer tour with Kenny Chesney, and he’s gearing up to release his next studio album this fall. From the outside, things seems pretty perfect in the singer’s world, but it turns out things aren’t so great at home.
Jake recently opened up to America’s Morning Show about his marriage and some “Real Life” struggles he and his wife, Lacey, are going through.
“Right now—and I haven’t said this a lot lately because I didn’t think this was anyone’s business other than mine and my wife’s—but my wife and I, for the last few months, have really been having a hard time and struggling with communication, and literally talking about divorce and all kinds of stuff,” Jake shared with the syndicated morning show.
He hopes that his fans realize that he and Lacey are real people too, and that their marriage isn’t always perfect. “And I don’t want to talk about that, but after long conversations for days and weeks, part of us talking about it and getting it out there and letting people know that we’re the same as they are, we have problems, too, it made us feel better talking about the things we’ve kept from each other.”
Jake and Lacey said “I do” on the beach in Florida in May 2012. They welcomed their daughter, Olive Pearl, into the world in November of that same year.
