Jason Aldean Has Always Been a ‘Big Fan’ of Miranda Lambert as Collaborating Partner

When Jason Aldean started planning for his next album, he wanted to come up with an amazing collaboration. Sorting through all of the women in country music that would mesh well together with his desired sound, a light bulb popped up for him when he remembered his last work with Miranda Lambert.

It had been years since the two stars teamed up for a song, and Aldean never lost the love he had for her grit and power when it came to laying down her vocal. The Georgia native sent Lambert over one piece, but decided a track called “Drowns the Whiskey” would make more of an impact with her sound on the recording.

“I had a song in mind and I sent it to her. She was just kinda iffy on the song that I sent, and I was like, ‘Hey, if you don’t like it, it’s cool. I want you to love whatever we do.’ So, I had another song that I had in mind. I said, ‘Actually, you know, I’ve got this other thing that I’ll send you and see if you like that better.’ And so I sent he ‘Drowns the Whiskey’ and she loved that song,” Aldean explained to NASH Prep.

Although the two don’t regularly cross paths, Aldean continues to admire the trail that Lambert blazes on through with her vulnerable yet tough approach to making country music.

“We did a song together on my second record called ‘Grown Woman’ that was to me probably my favorite song on that album, and, you know, I’m kind of always looking for songs and ways to collaborate with other people anyway,” Aldean said. “And, I just kind of wanted to do something else with her. I’ve always been a big fan of her voice and her style and everything.”

Aldean’s upcoming record, featuring the duet with Lambert will arrive on Friday, April 13.
