Jason Aldean throws fans a change up with his newly-released single, offering up the soft touch of his romantic “Got What I Got.”

Featuring a low and slow late-night groove and a lost-in-you-theme, the track is the second single released from Aldean’s 9 album, co-written by Thomas Archer, Alex Palmer and Michael Tyler. It’s not that the fiery Georgia native hasn’t shown his tender side before — he’s done it to chart-topping effect on singles like “You Make It Easy” and “When She Says Baby” before — but “Got What I Got” takes his level of Southern suave up a notch.

“When I first heard ‘Got What I Got’ it reminded me of something Boyz II Men would do … almost like a 90’s R&B throwback song,” Aldean says of the track. “It’s just not something you really hear in Country music that much … plus, now more than ever, I think we’re all just being reminded how to appreciate the people we love.”

“When I got what I got, I don’t miss what I had / The old me before you belongs to the past / In the back of your mind, you might think there’s somethin’ more I want / But when I got what I got, girl, I don’t,” goes the steamy, reassuring chorus.

“Got What I Got” follows Aldean’s previous single, “We Back,” the hard charging Top 10 hit which led into 9’s release. After postponing recent dates of his 2020 We Back Tour, he plans to hit the road once again July 17 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
