Jimmie Allen delivered a heart rending performance of his new single on the 2022 Grammy Awards, sending “Down Home” up to the heavens in front of a Las Vegas crowd.

A moving country ballad dedicated to his late father, Allen’s track offered a moment of country reflection on a night filled with thrills. Decked out in a tiger-print jacket, white jeans and dark sunglasses, the rising talent looked every inch the star he promised he work hard and become in the song, which was filled with personal details of his upbringing in Southern Delaware.

Held for the first time in Las Vegas after it was postponed due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the 64th annual Grammy Awards took place on April 3. Gathering the biggest stars from across all musical genres, the night once again celebrated the best and brightest of the year in music — including country.

Allen came into the night highlighted as the only country artist included in the coveted Best New Artist category, and along with his performance, other country stars hitting the stage included Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton and Brothers Osborne.

The 2022 Grammy Awards were hosted by Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah, and aired live on CBS with on demand streaming available on Paramount+. Check out a list of the night’s country winners here.
