While she may have sadly passed away one year ago, Joey Feek’s voice continues to live on through her music.

The country singer, who was known as 1/2 of the duo Joey & Rory, sadly lost her battle to stage 4 cervical cancer in 2016. Several years before her diagnosis, Joey Feek recorded a number of solo tracks, produced by her husband, Rory Feek, and Bill McDermott, and soon, those songs will finally see the light of day.

“It’s one of the great joys of my life to dust these songs off and bring them to life again,” Rory Feek wrote in the album’s booklet. “Not just the songs, but also the stories and the life of the special woman that these songs represent.”

Called If Not for You, changed from the original title, Strong Enough to Cry, the album features 12 songs in which Joey Feek channels all of her deepest emotions into her vocals. Not only is her husband and former singing partner excited to finally let the project see the light of day, her family can’t wait for fans to reconnect with the singer after her tragic passing.

“It seems odd to share in something she can’t share with us,” said her father, Jack Martin in an interview with The Tennessean. “The thing about this album that I hope people listen to is our daughter can sing. Oh my gosh, she is such a talent and I hope people get the opportunity to listen to her and see what she’s all about.”

If Not for You will release on April 7.
