Hawaiian-born country artist JoLivi’s got the world on a string in the new video for her recent single, “Better,” premiering on Sounds Like Nashville today (July 15).

Filmed by Pat Barazza, the clip finds JoLivi strutting around Nashville’s famous Printer’s Alley in the wake of an unexpected breakup, and putting the theme of her getting-over-him anthem into action. Sure, she got dumped — but that just means there’s no one around to hold her back anymore. With youthful vocals and a touch of easy-going, island-time sass, the upbeat track also features soaring electric guitars from Johnny Garcia, longtime lead guitarist for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.

“‘Better” is about all the things you get back in your life when you end a toxic relationship,” JoLivi explains. “You left me, but I’m so much better for it.”

“Love, love you like it was goin’ out of style / My heart was right beside you every single mile / Don’t know why you left me / But I’m learnin’ that you left me better,” goes the optimistic chorus.

“Better” was released this spring and was quickly added to Spotify playlists like Wild Country and Pop-Co, pulling in 100,000 streams so far. Born and raised on the Hawaiian islands, the fresh-faced singer studied theater at Colorado State University and spent some time in Los Angeles’ pop scene before moving to Nashville to pursue country full time. She previously released three other country singles — “Take A Shot,” “Crooked Crown” and “Vinyl” — and just dropped the glossy ballad “Stuck.”
