Jordan Davis reminds country fans that a simple life is the best life in his new single, “Buy Dirt,” and he gets help from superstar Luke Bryan to do it.

The hit making pair team up for a heartwarming message of wisdom that transcends time and circumstance — and now we know where it came from. Check out its backstory and an all-natural live rendition below.

Co-written by the “Slow Dance In a Parking Lot” hit maker with his brother Jacob Davis, Josh Jenkins and Matt Jenkins, “Buy Dirt” is grounded in a gentle acoustic sound, and works like a reminder of the key to a happy life. That makes sense now, since Davis says the whole idea came to him during a time of recalibration, when we were all thinking about life’s bigger picture.

“’Buy Dirt’ is a song that came to me a couple of months into the pandemic,” he says in a statement through his record label. “We couldn’t tour, music, everything was at a standstill. I came to the realization of ‘Man, all you need is your faith, your family and your friends.’ And music’s great and I love it and I’m happy I get to do it, but at the end of the day, those are three things that I need to always keep at the top of my list, and ‘Buy Dirt’ is my kind of pledge to that.”

The track comes off Davis’ recently released EP of the same name, and last month, the rising star shared how he invited Bryan to join in with Sounds Like Nashville. “He’s one of busiest guys out there and for him to be part of it speaks for the song,” the Louisiana native said. But not too busy to perform with a friend, since Davis and his superstar buddy teamed up again on TODAY to perform it. Delivering a live-on-the-farm rendition, they captured the “Buy Dirt” vibe perfectly.

Meanwhile, Jordan Davis has more in store for “Buy Dirt” — like headline shows in 17 cities as part of his Buy Dirt Tour. The run kicks off September 9 in Minneapolis with Seaforth and Mackenzie Porter, and before that, he’ll be crisscrossing the nation for fair and festival dates.
