Hit Songwriter Josh Kerr Steps Into the Spotlight on ‘Still Our Town’

One of Music City’s behind-the-scene players steps into the spotlight with “Still Our Town,” the debut single from hit maker Josh Kerr.

Having already written hits for artists like Keith Urban (“Never Comin Down”), Kelsea Ballerini (“Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs”) and Dylan Scott (“My Girl”), Kerr brings his own modern-country flavor to “Still Our Town.” A propulsive blast of rearview romance, it showcases his smooth vocal alongside rolling banjos and danceable electronic beats — plus a nostalgia-fueled story of love lost, but not forgotten. As Kerr moves around his small-town home, every spot is imprinted with a memory — even though the girl who helped make those memories is long gone.

“I still smell the magnolia, feel you lean over, head on my shoulder, see the sunrise / Hear the sound of the dirt flying off the tires / I still look for that nova, taste the Corona kiss on that sofa, see your blue eyes / Wherever I go, I’m still running into you / Even though I know that you’re not here, girl you’re still around / And I tell myself that it’s mine now / But it’s still our town,” goes the vivid chorus.

Kerr wrote his debut with Jordan Minton and produced it himself, sharing some of the process with fans on Instagram. No word on when he’ll reveal more of his own music, but he’s currently making some new memories with Maddie & Tae’s Taylor Dye.
