Kacey Musgraves Christmas Special Coming to Amazon

Kacey Musgraves is playing Santa Claus this Christmas season, teaming up with Amazon Prime Video to give fans a Christmas special only she could create.

Set to premiere November 29, The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show aims to put the Grammy winner’s dazzling whimsy on full display for a true holiday-variety extravaganza — marking her first Christmas special. Described by Amazon as “equal parts heart-warming and cleverly absurd,” the special was party inspired by Musgraves’ 2016 A Very Kacey Christmas album, and hopes to put a “magically modern twist” on the traditional Christmas special.

With that in mind, Musgraves won’t be alone. Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy is set to narrate, while actor Fred Armisen will help re-imagine “Silent Night.” Leon Bridges will join for “Present Without a Bow” and Camila Cabello puts her spin on “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” Carpool Karaoke funnyman James Corden guests on “Let It Snow” and Zooey Deschanel sings “Mele Kalikimaka,” while Lana Del Rey appears on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and Troye Sivan helps deliver the world debut of “Glittery.” Meanwhile, The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show will also feature the Radio City Rockettes, Kendall Jenner and Musgraves’ own grandmother. A soundtrack to the special will be also be released November 29.

“I can say without a doubt that this project is unlike anything I’ve ever done before,” Musgraves explains. “What started as the small seed of an idea one night over a year ago has turned into something I’m so proud of. Some truly brilliant comedic and musical guests are featured in the show — as well as my own Grandma. My vision was to bring my old Christmas album to life visually and create a modern and fashionable, fresh take on a classic format. It’s a nostalgic, Wes Anderson-inspired reimagining of the holidays. It’s heartfelt, funny, and most of all, real. I can’t wait to finally share.”
