Kane Brown and his “Be Like That” buddies bring their chill-pop jam to life, mixing old school cool with a modern flair for a new video.

Teaming up with hip-hop star Swae Lee and R&B favorite Khalid, the country star takes full advantage of a deserted landscape. Directed by Alex Alvga, the trio go back in time to take over a colorful Californian motel from the WWII era, complete with drive-in diner and swaying palms. The breezy clip is simple and straightforward, but it does offer country fans something to think about. Putting Brown in the company of some big-time pop stars, the hit maker looks right at home — maybe foreshadowing a crossover in the making.

“I might be better on my own / I hate you blowing up my phone / I wish I never met yo’ ass / Sometimes it be like that,” goes the catchy chorus hook.

“Be Like That” was released in July and isn’t even out at country radio. Instead, it’s climbing up the Billboard Pop Songs and Adult Top 40 charts, further showing Brown’s broader-market potential. Meanwhile, his current country single, “Cool Again,” is inside the Top 10, and both tracks are featured on his just-released Mixtape Vol. 1 EP.
