Kane Brown has teamed with Crown Royal and a military trio to remix a meaningful hit, releasing his new “Homesick (Veterans Version).”

Written by Brown and dedicated to members of the military, the original single was released one year ago. But now featuring the vocals of veterans Generald Wilson, Retired Petty Officer First Class, U.S. Navy; J.W. Cortés, Retired Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marines; and Sal Gonzalez, Retired Lance Corporal, U.S. Marines; it takes on a new emotional weight.

“I’m honored to partner with The Crown Royal Purple Bag Project and release ‘Homesick (Veterans Version)’ in recognition of the American servicemen and women who have given so generously during this difficult time,” Brown says of the track. “I also recognize the incredible importance of acknowledging the service our minority veterans have made for this country. My hope is this remix shines a light of hope and generosity, to uplift our heroes during this time.”

“As a veteran, it means so much to work with a brand that has a long history of supporting service men and women,” adds Cortés. “I want this remix to serve as an anthem for all American heroes as we continue to work together for a better tomorrow.”

With that hope for a better tomorrow in mind, every stream of “Homesick (Veterans Version)” will be matched by The Crown Royal Purple Bag Project, who will pack one bag to be donated as a care package to non-profit Packages From Home as part of the brand’s goal of one million bags by the end of 2020. And they will also donate $1 to the community-based 501(c)3 organization, Minority Veterans of America, up to $100,000.

Brown recently opened up about creating the remix and what it means in this time of pandemic upheaval, noting that we’re now surrounded by heroes everyday. But while admitting that he’s definitely a bit homesick for the road, Brown says staying home with his infant daughter, Kingsley, has been a precious gift.

“It’s been amazing. We got to see everything; how she’s grown, her personality coming in, her teeth growing in. She’s almost standing by herself, so it’s been amazing just to watch all that. I wouldn’t have been able to do that if I was on the road, but I definitely do miss the road, and being out and seeing the fans.”
