Country music superstar Keith Urban has released an acoustic version of “We Were.” On this new rendition, the four-time Grammy Winner fuses his country-pop sound with a stripped-down take of his single current single. The result is a slow-tempo Wurlitzer line, a building drum kit beat, and acoustic guitar.

“When I first heard ‘We Were,’ I not only heard it, but I saw it. It made me feel something,” said Urban of the song. “The imagery is so strong – a stamp on the back of a hand, a Saturday night cover band, the girlfriend (or boyfriend) we ran with, and a fake ID (which of course I never had). So many of us can relate or will likely relate at some point!  I like the idea that life just happens and at some point, whether in the moment or not, you just gotta go with it.”

“We Were” is currently No. 15 and climbing on the Mediabase Country charts.

Fans can catch the guitar aficionado when Urban joins the Good Morning America crew on Friday, August 9th, to perform “We Were” on the morning show.

In addition to releasing the acoustic track, Urban also dropped a “One Shot” video set to the single’s original master. Watch it on YouTube now and catch Urban on his ongoing Graffiti U World Tour. For more information on dates and tickets, go to keithurban.net/events/
