Kellie Pickler on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 16: Week 6 Recap

KELLIE PICKLER, DEREK HOUGH

Following an incredibly strong week on “Dancing with the Stars,” Kellie Pickler proved once again that she’s in it to win it. Taking on the Quickstep, Pickler danced her way to a nearly perfect score of 29 out of 30.

The stars and their partners all danced to Stevie Wonder songs. Pickler and her partner Derek Hough danced to “Part-Time Lover” and received high remarks about their routine. Head judge Len Goodman said the dance was “the best dance of season 16.” Fellow judge Bruno Tonioli agreed and said “it was exciting” and “superb.”

This week also marked the first time that the stars had to take on TWO dances. On top of the individual routines, the remaining contestants were split into teams for a team dance. Pickler and fellow contestant Zendaya were appointed team captains because they have been the highest scoring dancers through the season.

Pickler and her team danced the Samba. Her team consisted of comedian Andy Dick, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, and ABC’s Bachelor Sean Lowe. While rehearsals looked rough for the team, they were able together to score a 25 out of 30 for their 1970’s disco themed dance.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said the team “killed it” and that the routine at flow and unity. Len Goodman agreed by saying it was “fun, tight, together and well done!”

Kellie’s grand score for the night was a 54 out of 60.

The show also kicked off with a very special performance by Wonder, who called up Hunter Hayes in the middle to perform alongside the superstar. The two performed at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in early April.
